Interfaith peace vigil for Christchurch attack

March 19, 2019

Over 500 people of all faiths, as well as those of no faith, gathered in front of the Uniting “Church on the Mall” in Wollongong last night (18 March 2019) to hold a community vigil for peace and remembrance to honour the victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack.

As the ceremony concluded, Bishop Brian Mascord embraced Sheik Rahman from the Omar Mosque in Gwynneville and presented a wreath as an expression of the grief and solidarity that was so clearly evident in those who attended this special event.

Our sincere gratitude to the Illawarra People For Peace for organising the event and for Edmund Rice College students for assisting Bishop Brian with the wreath presentation.
