Thanksgiving at Jamberoo Abbey

February 5, 2026

On Monday 2 February 2026, Bishop Brian Mascord visited Jamberoo Abbey to celebrate the Eucharist of Thanksgiving for the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple with the Benedictine Sisters and their friends.

The celebration was rich in significance. Alongside the liturgical feast, the community gave thanks for 38 years since the Sisters first arrived in Jamberoo, a milestone that reflects decades of prayer, hospitality and faithful witness in the Diocese.

The Mass was also an opportunity to express gratitude to the many Oblates, donors and supporters who have contributed to essential repair and restoration works across the abbey buildings and grounds over the past two years. Their generosity has helped preserve the physical home of the community, supporting its ongoing life of prayer and welcome.

Following the Mass, those gathered shared in the joy of the occasion, acknowledging both the history of the Abbey and the quiet, steady work that continues to sustain it into the future.
