Fr Doug celebrates 60 years as a priest

January 15, 2019

Retired diocesan priest, Fr Doug Rheinberger, recently celebrated his diamond jubilee (60 years) anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

In this thanksgiving speech, Fr Doug said, “In my life as a priest, the greatest privilege was to be able to say the prayers at Mass which turned the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus so that he may continue live in and with us.” He also thanked his brother priests for their good example and encouragement which sustained him during the hard times

As we celebrate Fr Doug’s lifetime of sacrifice and service to the Church, we invite you to join in the following prayer:

Heavenly Father

We pray that Fr Doug be strengthened and healed by the power of the Eucharist he celebrates. May the Word he proclaims give us courage and wisdom.

We pray that all those he serves may see in him the love and care of Jesus, Our Eternal High Priest, who is Lord for ever and ever.

Amen.

Mary, Mother of the Church, look tenderly upon your son, Fr Doug.

St Joseph, patron of the universal Church, pray for us all.

Thank you to all involved, especially to Fr Francis Tran OAM, Jenny Gibson (parish secretary) and the parish and school community of St John the Evangelist Catholic Parish Dapto for this memorable and joyous celebration.
