“We can’t do parish renewal alone. No one person has all the gifts and strengths needed to single-handedly lead, let alone transform, a parish. There is no such thing as a balanced person, but you can have a balanced team.
FR JAMES MALLON

Description

Everyone knows at least one person who has served in a parish for years, sometimes decades. When that person inevitably moves on or passes away, there is a momentary panic as we all scramble to find someone, anyone, to do the thing that they used to do.

When we give tasks, we create workers. When we share responsibility and authority, we empower leaders. This creates ownership, commitment and passion. Everyone is called to lead, each in their own sphere of influence. So, what are we looking for in parish leaders? And how do we lead in a way that continues to empower new leaders?

This formation will explore the basics of what it means to be an empowering leader and how that can help you discover untapped potential and talent in your community.

What is the Formation Pathway?

To assist parish communities in understanding and implementing Come & See, Go & Make: A Vision for Parishes (CSGM), we have developed a program of formation, known as the Formation Pathway. Consisting of introductory, intermediate and advanced formation, the Formation Pathway is designed to explore core concepts of parish renewal, equip and encourage the faithful, and help to nurture the existing culture of growth – personally and as a community. For more information, please see the Formation Pathway overview.
