Formation Pathway: Hospitality (Wollongong/Online)

Date: Wednesday 4 March, 2026
Time: 7:00pm–9:00pm
Venue: Wollongong
Cost: FREE

What people experience at the threshold often determines whether they ever cross it.

No one ever left a parish because it was too welcoming.

Ever wondered why some people walk into a parish and never come back — while others feel at home almost immediately?

It’s rarely about the music or the homily. More often, it comes down to welcome. As part of the Formation Pathway, this formation explores hospitality as more than being friendly or polite. We’ll look at how the experience people have when they arrive shapes parish culture, lowers barriers to encounter, and influences whether someone feels safe enough to stay, return, and take a next step. After all, if people don’t feel welcome, they’ll never stay long enough to hear the Gospel.

This session is for anyone who cares about parish life and wants to help create a parish where people truly belong.

What is the Formation Pathway?

To assist parish communities in understanding and implementing Come & See, Go & Make: A Vision for Parishes (CSGM), we have developed a program of formation, known as the Formation Pathway. Consisting of introductory, intermediate and advanced formation, the Formation Pathway is designed to explore core concepts of parish renewal, equip and encourage the faithful, and help to nurture the existing culture of growth – personally and as a community. For more information, please see the Formation Pathway overview.
