Youth and Young Adult Ministry

Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Wollongong

Jesus gave an image for his life’s work when he read in the Synagogue:

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”  (Luke 4:18-19 )

As the Church continues in ministry with young people, we hold this image as a guide for our mission.

The Youth Ministry website for the Diocese is continuing to be redeveloped.

word and deed

Word & Deed is a weekly gospel based resource for young people, produced by the Wollongong Diocesan Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Each week there are participant handout including prayers, the Sunday Gospel, a reflection and discussion questions. To accompany this there is a guide for those leading groups with extra resource material including a brief introduction, environment, music and ritual suggestions and several suggested activities. Word & Deed can be used in any way that suits your group. Use as much or as little of the resource and feel free to adapt and edit to suit your own situation.

Word & Deed is copyright free and can be downloaded from www.dow.org.au/youth (the links to the latest copies are on the right hand side of the screen).

You can access all the files that are available in the Word + Deed archive here: icon Youth

From the earliest times, Christians have enacted the Stations of the Cross. 'Born For This' is a modern theatrical interpretation of this ancient tradition performed by a cast of young people from the Diocese. This production will certainly bring this great story of faith alive for audiences throughout Lent 2010. Don't miss your chance to see this moving Way of the Cross as part of your Lenten journey.

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

Tickets are only $10/$5 for all public performances and are now available online at www.dow.org.au/born-for-this or by contacting Jane Edwards This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 4253 0899
