Through engagement with the clergy, religious and other people of the diocese, and especially lay women, to be a council that facilitates ongoing dialogue and action at parish, regional and diocesan levels regarding the participation of women in the life and structures of the church.
A group of people appointed by Bishop Peter Ingham to promote liturgical renewal in the diocese.
They provide formation for liturgical ministers to supplement that given by local parishes, provide guidelines and policies on liturgical matters and assist the Bishop in introducing initiatives from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.

The Diocesan Pastoral Council of the Diocese of Wollongong is a vital aspect of communion with the Church. Considering the pastoral questions of our day and making appropriate recommendations to the Bishop, the members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council are imbued with a pastoral spirit to aid the Bishop with the pastoral governance of the Church.
