The author of ‘My Tidda, My Sister: Stories of strength and resilience from Australia’s first women’, Marlee is determined to utilise her storytelling skills to inspire people and create change. She uses her platform to advocate for the causes she is most passionate about, which has seen her named as a finalist in the Australian Human Rights Commission ‘Young People’s Human Rights Medal’ in 2019.

Marlee also volunteers for various charities and sits on the board of both ID. Know Yourself, an Aboriginal founded charity which provides support to Indigenous children living in out of home care, and youth suicide prevention non-profit, Cultural Choice Association, through which she has also developed and delivered mental health and wellbeing program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students.

While she juggles an array of different roles at any given time, she is currently the host of Game Changers a podcast featuring inspiring female athletes, a sideline NRL/W commentator for ABC Sport and freelance writer for a range of media outlets.

Marlee Silva is a young Gamilaroi and Dunghutti woman based on Dharawal Country, south of Sydney. She is a published author, presenter and commentator with a particular passion for storytelling focused on First Nations people and community, sport and women’s issues.
