What happens during WYD08 week?
WYD08 is a week of celebration with catechesis (teaching), creative forums, seminars, concerts, speakers, and opportunities for service and prayer. The week culminates in an overnight prayer vigil and final Mass with his Holiness Pope Benedict VXI at Randwick Racecourse. For an itinerary of events during WYD08 week,

During the registration process you will be asked to join a local group, so before you register you need to know which group to join! To find your group, keep reading and click on the “Click to get started” button below. You will be provided with a personalised step-by-step guide to registering for WYD08 on the Sydney website.
What is the group structure for the Diocese of Wollongong?
We believe that the registration process will provide an opportunity for young people in our Diocese to “get connected” with their local Church community, becoming a catalyst for renewal in parishes post WYD08.

Therefore, we want all pilgrims in the local community (be it parishes, schools or other) to travel together (where possible) and be seated together at the major WYD08 events.
In order to achieve this, seven group “clusters” representing seven regions in our Diocese have been created. We have worked closely with the National WYD08 Office in Sydney to ensure that all parishes, schools and communities within each cluster are linked together.
How much does it cost?
Pilgrims have a choice of three Packages when registering for WYD08 week:
Package A — This is for the entire WYD week (15-20 July) - including accommodation.

Package B — This is also for the entire WYD week (15-20 July) - pilgrims arrange their own accommodation.
details»
Package C — This is for the WYD weekend (19-20 July) only.

A number of our Cluster groups (Campbelltown, Camden and Northern Illawarra) are within close proximity to Sydney. Therefore, it is expected that pilgrims from these groups will select Package B (and either return home each evening or make private accommodation arrangements) or Package C (for the weekend only).
Pilgrims from the Wollongong, Southern Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands Cluster Groups will be given a choice of Package A, B or C depending on their situation.
When is payment due and how do I pay?
WYD08 Sydney is asking that all pilgrims pay their registration fee before the end of March 2008. If you register after March 2008, you will be asked to pay within 14 days of registration.

Payments can be made in part or full in the following ways:
-
You can make an individual payment via credit card by logging into your registration account and going to the payment section. Please note, the payment section shows the total amount outstanding for the entire group. Any payment you make will be recognised as a “member contribution” in the payment section.
- You can make a payment to your group leader and he/she can make a “group payment” on your behalf.
- Someone else can purchase a “gift voucher” nominating you as the beneficiary. In this scenario, your payment amount due would be reduced by the value of the gift voucher. Click here for more information.
I’d like to go to WYD but I am not in the 16-35 age group?
A pilgrim must be 16 years old by 31 December 2008 in order to register as part of a group (without a parent registered) for either the week or weekend package.
Those pilgrims who are not 16 years old by 31 December 2008 can register, but they will need to attend with a parent or legal guardian who will also need to be registered.
There is no ‘upper’ age limit. Children under 8 can attend free of charge with their parents who are registered pilgrims (subject to availability of seating).

People of any age who have not registered are welcome to attend the final Mass on Sun 20 July (as well as other public events during the week such as the arrival of the Pope on the Thurs and the Stations of the Cross on the Fri). If seating is not available inside Randwick Racecourse, unregistered pilgrims will be seated in Centennial Park just outside Randwick Racecourse, where there will be large screens and a ‘drive through’ by Pope Benedict XVI.
