Pastoral Planning Principles
All good planning depends on:
- clearly stated vision, mission and aims
- shared enthusiasm for the planning project
- appropriate access to all relevant information and analysis
- support, participation and engagement at all levels.
Theological Principles and Parameters for Pastoral Planning
Four principles and parameters will guide our planning:
- Grounded in the mission of the Church
As foreshadowed in Scripture and described in major ecclesial documents, including: Lumen Gentium, Gaudium et Spes, and Novo Millennio Ineunte.
- Attentive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit
Through holy discernment of Revelation, the Teaching of the Church, the Authority of the Bishop, the Signs of the Times, the Cry of the Poor, the Voice of the Community and the Virtue of Truth.
- Working together as a community of Christ’s faithful
Drawing on the diversity of our gifts and ministries, listening to one another, and recognising our unity in the body of Christ.
- Centred on the Eucharist
Where all should be welcomed, where our pain is acknowledged, where our brokenness is healed, where we are nourished by Word and Sacrament, and where our mission is renewed.
