Pastoral Planning Stages

Through wide-ranging dialogue and regular sharing of information, we will:

  1. Establish foundations: work for agreement on identity, vision, mission of the Diocese.
  2.

  3. Clarify the planning process: aims, principles, communication strategy, method and time-frame for the pastoral plan.
  4.

  5. Gather information on the Diocese: document current ministries and needs, gather existing plans, identify pastoral strengths and resources, itemise new needs, changes, concerns, and calls.
  6.

  7. Develop goals: identify and prioritise achievable objectives to maintain strengths, meet new needs, integrate existing plans, address concerns, and respond to new calls.
  8.

  9. Produce and recommend operational plans – strategies, actions and budgets – to achieve agreed goals within set time-frame.
  10.

  11. Agree on final pastoral plan.
  12.

  13. Launch, celebrate, and monitor the implementation of the plan.
