Jesus and You
- In all of history, he has the strongest following of anyone who claimed to be God.
- So, who is Jesus to you: Friend and God? Great role model? Distant historical figure?
"Who do you say I am?"
We all grow up with different ideas presented to us about Jesus. Our invitation - live life to the full!
Jesus offers us all the love that God can give us! He invites us to "live life to the full!" This sounds great and is what we all want. For Jesus, a full life means loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and loving our neighbour as our self.
Our challenge - Life in the Spirit!
Jesus says: "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses."
Jesus wants us to be his hands and feet in today's world, offering hope and healing, to bring people into God's love. Our faith is not selfish, and it is such good news we want to share it with everyone. He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit so that we may respond to this great calling. A great way to live - our family of faith
Jesus invited us to take up his offer together with others. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, Jesus created a community centred in God's love. If we want to be Jesus' followers, then we are called to live this out in the community of God's love, the church. It is by no means a perfect community, but together we try to be the kind of people Jesus asks us to be. Find out more about our life in the Catholic Church.
Investigate for yourself
There are great places to find out more about Jesus Christ. A great starting point is the Bible itself. Be sure to have an updated edition as early translations are sometimes difficult to read. Then start reading through the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.
Your Say - Who do you say Jesus is?
What do you think about Jesus Christ? Has he changed your life? How?
Pray to Jesus now
Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which you have given us,
for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us.
Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother,
may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,
day by day.
Amen.
