MINISTRY TRAINING.
Training for the ministries of Acolyte, Adult Server and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion will be held during February and March 2012. The training will be led by Bishop Peter Ingham, Fr Sean Cullen, Paul Mason and Noel Meddows on Saturday 18 February, 10.00am – 2.30pm at St John the Evangelist Parish Hall, Campbelltown, Saturday 25 February, 10.00am – 2.30pm at St Therese’s Parish Hall, West Wollongong and Saturday 10 March, 10.00am – 2.30pm at St Michael’s Parish Hall, Nowra. This training is intended for all who are interested in taking up a liturgical ministry for the first time, as well as those current ministers looking to renew their commitment. Bishop Peter Ingham will institute and commission ministers in regional celebrations during in June. Contact the parish office for an application form. Thursday, 9 February 2012. 10.30am – 3.00pm. NEW LOCATION: Meeting Room, Xavier Centre, 2 Bond St, Bellambi. Conducted by Paul Mason, Diocesan Coordinator of Liturgy. Each year the liturgies of Lent and Easter mark important stages in the Church’s mission of evangelisation. For those adults journeying on the initiation process, these liturgies are key milestones in their personal lives. This workshop will explore the power of these liturgies to effectively engage the whole community in the process of initiating new members into the Church. The Diocese of Wollongong offers a number of audited and non-audited pathways for adult faith including Certificate III Theology (Beginning Theology) and Foundations (follow-up to Beginning Theology). These courses are designed for adults who have no previous experience of formal theological studies; are seeking a systematic introduction to theology in the Catholic tradition and seek formal (nationally recognised) qualifications in theology. They are intended to strengthen the theological foundations for life and ministry. Courses are open to anyone interested in professional theological development. You do not have to be engaged in active ministry to enrol. Delivery is flexible with both day and evening options available.
